Expertise in design
Spencer Professional Services provides world class engineering solutions and
shares knowledge, experience and expertise throughout international engineering
sectors.
On the Energy Works project, we undertook the design of a 13-acre energy park,
where a solution was developed to use a combination of low-carbon technologies.
The final design was tailor-made to the local area’s resource and energy needs,
and included fluidised bed gasification, anaerobic digestion, in-vessel composting,
solar panels and wind turbines.
Spencer Design also undertakes regular work on partnership programmes. On the
Network Rail AfA Programme, a design template for effective access footbridges
has developed through the delivery of multiple design and build schemes. This
enables Spencer Rail to offer a competitive service, with existing knowledge of the
correct and most efficient means to design and deliver the works.
Flexible involvement
Working in collaboration with a wide range of clients, we offer flexibility depending
on the particular project or objective. Our in-house designers, project developers,
planners and IT experts can be configured according to project demands.
On the East Midlands Parkway Project, Spencer Rail was required to work
alongside other active worksites and other parties. An increased work scope and
delayed third parties meant the programme was shortened by 10 weeks.
We led a ‘programme crashing’ workshop, and the original programme was re-
scheduled and an alternative critical path set. Through regular stakeholder
engagement, daily meetings and liaison with the Spencer Rail team, the project
was delivered to time, cost and quality requirements. This was achieved with peak
manning levels of 150 persons, at one time, across only 763sqm.
Dedicated in-house team
With in-house expertise in feasibility, design, planning and energy consultancy, we
provide clients with the right service to get projects started and then keep
momentum. Project development has been part of Spencer Engineering Group’s
core business since inception. Our understanding of the priorities within different
project stages means we can expediently advise our clients.
This could include re-scheduling projects or meeting green objectives. Our
bespoke systems, including the Spencer Online System (SOS), also allows clients
to track progress and take further control of design, planning and budgeting.
Our ethos of partnership working ensures that we meet client objectives
throughout the project delivery stages, whether this is dependent on achieving
cost effectiveness, meeting a green agenda or overcoming programme
constraints.
